What is your vision of love and marriage? A new historical novel, called The Singer and the Sailor, explores the cultural roots of dating and love in the early 1910s.
This novel is written by Therese Boucher and follows a blossoming relationship between Rosalie, who thrives on friendships and singing in a town chorus, and her beau, Warren, who craves far-away adventure. How will they manage these opposites?
Will Rosalie’s close friendships be endangered by her scandal? How will Warren and Rosalie weather the influenza epidemic? And will Warren’s ocean-going service during WWI bring them closer or further apart?

Review One... Once I started reading, I found myself drawn into a richly detailed era. Its innocence is a breath of fresh air. And you brought me into my grandmother’s world who died when I was three. Substitute Oxford, MA for Brookfield and you wrote her biography. D. R.
Review Two… I loved the characters, they were very engaging. I couldn’t wait to read what happened next! I especially liked the part where Warren comes back from the war! I won’t give away any spoilers, but I said ‘YES’ aloud when I read what happened! And I appreciated the messages of love and hope woven into their story. Sharon Hockinson
Review Three… What a refreshing book. I loved the descriptions of small-town life in the early 1900’s, like ice cutting on the lake. I’ve read several stories with WWI or WWII as a backdrop, but even with the horror of war in this book, love prevails. What better ingredients for a book than history, action and love. Claire Fenner
